Review Detail
Deva Premal's voice has an other-worldly quality to it, and I never tire of hearing her music. In fact, I play my favorite Deva Premal CDs over and over, and have seen her in concert three times. Password introduces a low-key jazz tempo and backdrop to her sacred songs and chants, and I must admit that at first I didn't care for it as much. However, after many months I decided to listen again, and discovered to my joy that this CD is quite lovely; the same transcendent voice, the same ability to transport me into a state of sacred reverie-- all of the same qualities I appreciate, just different. It's still not my favorite, but the gentle upbeat allows me to work while listening, without wanting to slide into a meditative state. If you are new to Deva Premal's music, I might recommend listening to Love is Space first, then adding Password to your collection.
