The world needs heroes, and, as spiritual authority Deepak Chopra demonstrates in this gripping and deeply perceptive meditation on our potential to excel, every one of us possesses the power to help save the planet—and the strength to claim our best possible lives. For readers who draw inspiration from comic books and movies like Ironman, The Uncanny X-Men, and Superman, for the Peter Parkers who wonder how to unlock their inner Spider-man, Chopra illuminates the path to becoming a spiritual superhero, teaching us how to wield the great power of the human heart to work real changes in ourselves and in the world around us.

In 1938, DC Comics introduced the Western world to Superman, the first comic book superhero. At the time, comic books were initially relegated to the playgrounds of childish fantasies and imaginations, but this is no longer true. Superheroes have evolved in tandem with special effects and modernity, and the superheroes of today symbolize—and activate—the best in each of us. And NY Times bestselling author Chopra reminds us that nothing less is called for in these “perilous times” than to rise to our fullest potential.

With his distinctive integral insight, Chopra deconstructs seven “super qualities” of superheroes: balance, transformation, power, love, creativity, intention, and transcendence, and expertly guides readers toward cultivating these qualities personally and collectively. In effect, these super qualities are more like “super laws of transformation,” and Chopra elegantly weaves the understanding, wisdom, and application of these transformational laws so that humanity might stitch together a new, and more promising, myth for the modern age.

An unexpected aspect lightly interwoven through this book is a collaborative dialogue with Chopra’s son, Gotham Chopra, who co-created a comic book company and who is a master storyteller in his own right, according to proud papa. Inspired by his son’s creative spark, Deepak does fine job of bridging generations, cultures, borders and diverse superhero characters, from Buddha to Batman, and Krishna to Spiderman. And while humans may not literally be able to fly or supercede natural laws (yet), we certainly can soar beyond our limitations and toward a more promising future: Superheroes is like a warm current of air, lifting us closer to that aspiration.
