The ancient wisdom of Hawai'i has been guarded for centuries --handed down through lines of kinship to form the tradition of Huna. Dating back to the time before the first missionary presence arrived in the islands, the tradition of Huna is more than just a philosophy of living -- it is intertwined and deeply connected with every aspect of Hawaiian life.

Blending ancient Hawaiian wisdom with modern practicality, Serge Kahili King imparts the philosophy behind the beliefs, history, and foundation of Huna. More important, King shows readers how to use Huna philosophy to attain both material and spiritual goals. To those who practice Huna, there is a deep understanding about the true nature of life -- and the real meaning of personal power, intention, and belief. Through exploring the seven core principles around which the practice revolves, King passes onto readers a timeless and powerful wisdom.

his book is not just a wonderfully lucid presentation of the ancient esoteric wisdom of Huna - the Polynesian philosophy and practice of effective living, it is a practical guide by a gifted teacher that shows how anyone can achieve personal power, inner happiness and whatever success means to him or her.
The author was adopted into a Hawaiian family and has spent much of his life studying the oral traditions with elders, so he writes and teaches the principles of Huna around the world with the authority of a native Hawaiian. What I find particularly appealing about this book is that it is so down to earth and the techniques are applicable in situations as diverse as the human family.
Some of the principles echo themes from other teachers and traditions, like: “The world is what you think it is; there are no limits; energy goes where attention flows; now is the moment of power.” Others seem to have a more uniquely Hawaiian flavor: “To love is to be happy with; all power must come from within; effectiveness is the measure of truth.”
The richness of these principles unfolds gradually as King takes the reader in an iterative process through deeper and deeper layers of meaning. He illustrates the derivation and practical application of all the principles using stories, parables, concrete examples and step-by-step exercises. With sentiments like, “People don’t fail, plans do. People just give up or make new plans”, the book is truly empowering. King not only helps us understand how we continuously create our present reality, but shows us how to go about changing it and creating the life we really want if we are prepared to do the inner work using his convincing “E=mc2-r” formula for success.
I became a fan of Serge Kahili King after reading his earlier book, Mastering Your Hidden Self. I think this book is even better and deserves the same success as “The Secret”, last year’s blockbuster from Beyond Words, the same publisher behind this book, and evidently an expert in the Law of Attraction.

I love practical books. Theory is nice and important to know and understand but books that increase the practical know-how of the reader get extra gold stars from me. This fits the bill.
The author has studied the ancient wisdom of Hawaii many years and, although not a native Hawaiian, he was formally adopted into a native family and has spent the majority of his life in the islands exploring these teachings.
After going through an explanation of Huna – what it is and isn’t – we are given tools, visualizations, and practices to increase focus, become present, and discover- and attain – what we want in life.
He gives seven principles that can be used to change your life and learn how to use mana or personal power to shift your thoughts, affect your world, and make decisions with discernment, clarity, and confidence.
Some of these ideas are universal and found in other traditions and teachings. It is nice to work with them with a bit of a different angle and understanding. This is a great book to add to your working library.
